La Bola Negra Unveils It’s Official Trailer – Watch Now
Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for La Bola Negra, its upcoming Spanish-language war drama, ahead of the film’s theatrical release on Friday, October 16, 2026. The movie will later begin streaming on Netflix on Wednesday, December 2, 2026.
Directed by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, La Bola Negra features an ensemble cast that includes Guitarricadelafuente, Miguel Bernardeau, Carlos González, Milo Quifes, Lola Dueñas, Julio Torres, Penélope Cruz and Glenn Close. The screenplay was written by Calvo and Ambrossi alongside Alberto Conejero.
The story follows three men from different generations whose lives are connected across three separate time periods: 1932, 1937 and 2017. The newly released trailer offers a first look at a story exploring themes of love, pain and family secrets across these timelines.
In one of the storylines, Carlos attempts to become a member of an exclusive social club. Another follows Sebastián as he tries to survive during the Spanish Civil War while serving in the fascist army. Meanwhile, a historian named Alberto makes a discovery that reveals a hidden secret within his family.
La Bola Negra premiered at the Cannes Film Festival four months ago, where Calvo and Ambrossi shared the Best Director award with Fatherland. Following its festival debut, the film is now preparing for its limited theatrical release before arriving on Netflix in December.
The movie’s October theatrical release also comes shortly before Glenn Close appears as Drusilla Sickle in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 20. Penélope Cruz, meanwhile, has already appeared in several films this year, including The Bride!, The Invite and Bunker.
La Bola Negra also marks the first time that Academy Award-winning actors Penélope Cruz and Glenn Close have appeared together in the same film. The upcoming release therefore brings the two acclaimed performers together as part of the movie’s ensemble cast.
