Nocturne Trailer Reveals Liev Schreiber’s New Crime Thriller Coming To Apple TV
Nocturne is set to make its global debut on Apple TV on October 30, with the first two episodes releasing together. New episodes will then arrive weekly through December 25.
Apple TV may have a new crime thriller ready for viewers looking for a series that can fill the gap left by Mindhunter. The upcoming series Nocturne brings together a high-profile cast and a dark serial-killer storyline centered on a troubled homicide detective.
The series is based on the Lazarus and The Sandman novels by Lars Kepler. Ray Donovan star Liev Schreiber leads the cast as Jonah Lynn, a former soldier who becomes a homicide detective. The 10-episode series follows Jonah as he attempts to build a quieter life after leaving Philadelphia, only to find himself and his family caught in the path of a dangerous serial killer.
Apple TV has released the full trailer for Nocturne, giving viewers a closer look at Schreiber’s performance as Jonah. The trailer also features Stephen Graham, following his acclaimed performance in Netflix’s Adolescence, along with Emmy nominee Zazie Beetz, known for Atlanta and Deadpool 2.
In Nocturne, Jonah Lynn leaves his demanding life on the streets of Philadelphia and relocates with hopes of finding peace in a small town in Western Pennsylvania. However, his plans quickly fall apart when serial killer Jurek Walter begins threatening the community and Jonah’s family.
Jurek, portrayed by Stephen Graham, is presented as an extremely intelligent and dangerous criminal. According to the official description, he is “diabolically cunning,” making him a major threat that Jonah must confront.
As Jonah works to protect his family and the people around him, the search for Jurek’s final missing victim becomes increasingly urgent. The investigation eventually leads Jonah to seek assistance from his surrogate daughter, FBI Agent Saga Bauer, played by Zazie Beetz.
Together, Jonah and Saga must confront Jurek while attempting to locate the missing victim. The escalating situation also forces Jonah to consider how far he is prepared to go to protect the people who matter most to him.
The cast also includes Bill Camp (The Queen’s Gambit), Rory Culkin (Scream 4), Chrissy Metz (This Is Us), Poorna Jagannathan (Never Have I Ever), and Gary Carr (The Deuce).
Nocturne is developed for television and is co-showrun, written, and executive produced by John Hlavin, known for his work on The Shield. Rowan Joffé, the BAFTA Award-winning writer behind projects including 28 Weeks Later, also serves as creator, co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer.
While Nocturne is not expected to directly replicate the atmosphere of Mindhunter, the new series could appeal to viewers interested in dark crime stories focused on the psychology of dangerous criminals. With Schreiber, Graham, and Beetz leading the cast, the series offers a new take on the serial-killer thriller when it arrives on Apple TV.
