This movie is the story of Pilialoha, a 12-year-old kid from New York who suddenly dropped into a rural area of Oahu, which is in Hawaii, to help and take care of her grandfather. She has an older brother named Ioane, who also moved there along with their mother. Their grandfather recently suffered from a heart attack. In this rural area, everybody speaks the Hawaiian language. Still, both siblings cannot talk in the Hawaiian language. 11 years ago, their mother left the Island after receiving the news that her husband was killed in action, a military officer. Since then, Pili and her brother have grown up in New York.
When they return to the Island, they learn about the tradition and methodology of the Island. After spending some days with grandfather, the kids find out that their grandfather has fates of financial issues and can lose their family ancestral because of it. During discovering the Island, Pili and her brother learned about a treasure mentioned in the monk’s journal. After that, Pili and her brother, with some friends, go on an adventure to discover the hidden Treasure Island. And yes, in this story, both brother and sister find their Crush and take them on the adventure navigating through tunnels, death traps and a dangerous pool under a mountain. Ioane called her sister Indiana Jones. There are some funny moments too, and the storyline is decent. Pili and Ioane both had an unexpected summer with their grandfather. Both find out about the importance of the culture.
