Drink to your daily rundown of the biggest stories from Netflix’s top 10 hourly  numbers drop for the week ending January 14th, 2024. This week, we ’ll cover Lift, Boy Swallows Universe, Detective Forst, Sonic Prime, Pete Davidson’s new  stage- up, Love is Eyeless Sweden, The Trust, plus a check- heft with Berlin and Fool Me formerly.

In this report of Netflix’s hours viewed from January 8th, 2024, to January 14th, 2024, we ’ll use “Complete Viewings Equivalent,” or CVE, expressed in millions. That means we divide the hours viewed by Netflix by the runtime of  flicks or series. It allows for better comparisons between  flicks and series, but it’s not a followership metric. It’s the minimal number of viewings if they were  each complete from the first alternate to the last of the film or season.

1. Lift is lifting off alright

Kevin Hart still has it as his rearmost action pinch film, Lift, which soared high for its first weekend, with 32.8M CVEs, the 13th-stylish launch for any Netflix film released on a Friday over the last two and a half times.

A solid B- league launch, presumably exactly what Netflix anticipated in the middle of January.

2. Boy Swallows Universe

This only has a small  macrocosm of watchers so far. Australian limited series Boy Swallows Universe is quite a hard sell with its enigmatic title and pitch, and it showed for its first four days with only 3.6M CVEs and the worst launch of an English- speaking Netflix limited series released on a Thursday since 2023.

3. Operative Forst

Operative Forst had a great launch.  European investigators set in snowy  geographies are a surefire draw on Netflix, with the Polish series Detective Fors launching with 4.8M CVEs over its first four days and the stylish launch for a European series released on a Thursday.

4. Turbo Fonzarelli

There’s nothing Turbo about Pete about Pete Davidson’s rearmost comedy special.  One great side effect of the new methodology used by Netflix for its Top 10 is that comedy specials are featured more and more, giving us a ranking of how big (or not) some stage – up players are.

Dave Chappelle is huge. Ricky Gervais is big. But what about Pete Davidson? His  rearmost special, Turbo Fonzarelli, wasn’t  veritably big, as it launched with just 2.3 M CVEs over its first six days. That ranks just under Amy Schumer but far from the leaders of the order, Tom Segura and Trevor Noah.

5. Love is Eyeless Sweden

Love is Eyeless Sweden is taking effect slowly. Love is Blind is going European.   After the OG Love is Eyeless set in the US, Love is Eyeless Brazil, and Love is Eyeless Japan, it’s now Sweden’s turn to  trial if love truly is eyeless. Released over many weeks, the first  occurrences of this season launched with 1.1 M CVEs, which is relatively low. But it’s also just a third of what the launch of Season 5 of Love is Blind did, which seems  relatively good, all  effects considered.

6. The Trust

The Trust weekly reality television shows aren’t that common on Netflix, so it’s hard to tell if The Trust is doing well. It’s doing  vastly lower than Squid Game The Challenge, but that was a  miracle and does n’t  feel like an entirely fair comparison.

It’s also doing relatively lower than The Ultimatum Marry or Move On, so let’s just put a leg on it for the time being and see if it soars in the coming many weeks.

7. Sonic Prime’s suckers

Sonic Prime’s suckers are then for season 3. The animated series Sonic Prime is a great illustration of decay rates between seasons, as the series had a huge drop- off between season 1 and season 2, going from 7.8 M CVEs to 2.4 M CVEs.

Season 3 just launched and it started with 2.1 M CVEs, just a notch under the launch of season 2 indicating that  suckers are still then.

8. Berlin and Fool Me Once

Berlin and Fool Me Once are rushing toward the each-time Top 10. Society of the Snow is formerly there.

Two series have been really over performing since the  morning of 2024, and the first one is Harlan Coben’s Fool Me formerly, which reached 61M CVEs after its first two weeks.

Still, that’s the fourth-stylish launch for a new series on Netflix released since June 2021, behind Wednesday, If you wondered if that’s a lot. Yup, that’s high. It’s still 20M CVEs shy of the each- time Top 10, but there are still 11 weeks to go, so there’s a  veritably good chance it’ll make it there, and that would be the first big surprise of 2024.

On the transnational side, Berlin is also going strong, being the alternate-stylish launch for a new  transnational series released in June 2021, behind Squid Game. I hope you like plutocrat pinch because we ’re presumably getting a lot of spin- offs, conclusions, and prequels set in that  macrocosm. “ Berling ” should enter the  each- time Top 10 in two weeks ’ time  outside, and it could be high on the list.

Another one that made the list of all- time players is the Spanish prestige film Society of the Snow, which broke into the each-time Top 10 after only ten days. That’s a fantastic achievement, and the Academy Awards are just around the corner, which could  give it a boost to go as high as number 3 or 4 on the each- time Top 10 veritably emotional launch of the time for Netflix programs each around.

9. Netflix Engagement Report Deep Dive March 2015.

In March 2015, Netflix’s Original programs were in their immaturity, with just a sprinkle of shows and flicks released each month. Two premiered that month, the first season of birth with Kyle Chandler, Ben Mendelsohn, and Linda Cardellini but also the first season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, a sitcom with Ellie Kemper about a cult survivor discovering life for the first time, famously rejected by NBCUniversal before changing a new home at Netflix. More than eight years after their release, how are both faring on the service? Well, I’m glad you asked.

Season 1 of Bloodline was watched the equivalent of 1.87M times over the first six months of 2023, nearly double what season 1 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt did. That’s between 5,000 and 10,000 viewing of the whole series per day, eight years after their release, which seems good. “Bloodline” ran for three (good) seasons, while “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” ran for four seasons and an interactive special.
