Sofia Alvarez to debut as a director with Netflix’s Along for the Ride

Sofia Alvarez to adapt young adult novel ‘Along for the Ride’ starring Emma Pasarow and Belmont Cameli. The novel has been written by New York Times bestselling author Sarah Dessen which has already been translated into 35 languages, with more than 10 million copies in print worldwide. The novel has already won the Goodreads Choice Award for Best young adult fiction.

The movie revolves around the summer before college wherein Auden meets the mysterious Eli, a fellow insomniac. They embark on a nightly quest to help Auden experience the fun, carefree teen life she never knew she wanted while the seaside town of Colby sleeps.

Sofia Alvarez will debut her directorial venture wherein you will see a range of stars including Kate Bosworth, Laura Kariuki, Andie MacDowell, and Dermot Mulroney, Genevieve Hannelius, Samia Finnerty, Paul Karmiyran, Marcus Scribner and Ricardo Hurtado.

The feature film will see Screen Arcade’s Bryan Unkeless and Eric Newman as producers along with screen Arcade’s Alyssa Rodrigues, Sian McArthur, and Erika Hampson as executive producers.

Netflix has already set its eyes on three YA novels from Sarah Dessen – “This Lullaby,” “Once and For All” and “Along for the Ride.” Out of which Along for the ride will be the first to be adapted into a feature film.
