Netflix Postpones ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’ Virtual Preview Event after Chadwick Boseman’s Death

Netflix has decided to delay a virtual preview event for its upcoming movie Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom following the untimely death of Chadwick Boseman. The virtual event was set to happen on Monday at 10 AM PST with an exclusive first look and footage presentation along with director George C. Wolfe.

This Chadwick Boseman’s movie will be terms as one of his final performances. The movie will also see cast including Colman Domingo, Glynn Turman, Michael Potts, Taylour Paige and Dusan Brown. The movie has been adapted by by Ruben Santiago-Hudson whereas it was produced by Denzel Washington and Todd Black.

Announcing the postponement, Netflix made a statement saying, “we are heartbroken over today’s news of the passing of Chadwick Boseman, a ‘true fighter’ as his family called him in their poignant tribute.  This is an incredible loss.  We are canceling Monday’s preview event of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Please join us in sending your thoughts to his family and loved ones.”

Netflix Co-CEO and Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos also quoted, “Chadwick was a superhero on screen and in life, and it’s impossible to imagine working at the level he has while valiantly battling his illness. His legacy as a person and an artist will inspire millions. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family during this difficult time.”
