Netflix Crafted ‘Cobra Kai’ to be #1 Show with its Mere Influence
The recent release of ‘Cobra Kai’ is a perfect example of Netflix’s influence in the streaming entertainment world. Earlier, the show had debuted in 2018 on YouTube Red original series and ran for two seasons but YouTube later let go of the show.
Netflix realized the potential of ‘Cobra Kai’, bought not just the streaming rights but the rights of the complete series, and made it the most popular series in the US right now with its influence and impact on the streaming world.
Cobra Kai is a sequel of the Karate Kid movies which discontinued almost a decade back. The series has been termed as an extremely self-aware, clever series. The star cast of the series includes the original main cast members, William Zabka and Ralph Macchio who are now grown up and still have their original fierce rivalry.
The show is a perfect example of how Netflix is taking less acknowledged series from various networks and remarketing them through their streaming channel and event producing the next series out of it.
Netflix has done something similar with its one of the most successful series – Lucifer. Lucifer was acquired by Netflix post its cancellation on Fox and they turned it to be a successful series. Some more examples of Netflix’s tactics are Riverdale, All American, and Waco.
