First look of Shadow and Bone is Out, Release set on April 23

Netflix released the first look for its new fantasy series Shadow and Bone based on Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse trilogy of novels. The series will highlight the story of an orphaned soldier Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li) who possesses magical powers that may be able to save her war-torn country from the ominous threat of the Shadow Fold.
The first look of the series was released on Wednesday, January 27 and it is set to be released on April 23, 2021. Netflix published the first look image with various lead characters including Li as Alina and Ben Barnes as General Kirigan along with other casts Archie Renaux, Freddy Carter, Amita Suman, and Kit Young.
Leigh Bardugo speaking about the series, said, “Shadow and Bone take place in a very different kind of fantasy world. Think Imperial Russia, not Medieval England, repeating rifles instead of broadswords.”
He further added, “It’s a story about the people who have been told how much they don’t matter proving how much they do. And it’s been incredible to see that story take shape on such an epic scale, the battles, the magic, but also the relationships between the characters.”
The series will feature in a total of eight episodes and is produced by Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps Entertainment.
