Emma Watson Would Return for Another Harry Potter Reunion In 20 Years
Now that she’s reunited with all her Harry Potter cast members, Emma Watson says she would return for another reunion in 20 years. As last year marked the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, HBO Max decided to unite some of the fantasy franchise’s biggest stars for a reunion special. Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts debuted on the streaming service on New Year’s Day and saw those like Watson and Daniel Radcliffe sit down on the original sets to look back on the magic of the Wizarding World.
The Harry Potter franchise has grown beyond the original 8 movies, with Warner Bros. later developing a prequel series based on the fictional textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. However, if the Harry Potter reunion proved anything, it’s that there is still a lot of affection for the saga of the Boy Who Lived. Fans were thrilled by the new revelations that emerged from the special, such as Watson talking about her crush on Draco Malfoy actor Tom Felton. Another major anniversary seems like a good time, and Watson agrees. In a recent interview with Vogue, Watson was asked if she would return to Hogwarts for another reunion in 20 years – or, for Harry Potter’s 40th anniversary. Her answer was simple, but perfect: “Definitely.” Someone better book those seats right now!
Return to Hogwarts might’ve featured an error where a picture of Emma Roberts, not Watson, was used, but there’s no denying filming the special was an extraordinary experience for everyone involved. Watson said in the same interview it was both emotional and intense. The impact of seeing her, along with Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, back in the Gryffindor common room was monumental for fans, but few can understand how it must’ve felt for the stars themselves. Still, it was incredible enough that Watson would happily do it again in another 20 years.
Odds are, there would still be countless fans who would happily tune in for another Return to Hogwarts-like special. Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling might be more of a controversial figure now because of her anti-trans views, but the love for the stars of the movies and the stories they told to remain as strong as ever. Assembling the cast once again in another 20 years would highlight the franchise’s longevity. And who knows?
