Dakota Johnson Confirmed for Jane Austen’s Persuasion Adaptation for Netflix
Carrie Cracknell, an acclaimed theatre director is all set to make her feature directorial debut with Netflix movie starring Fifty Shades of Gray actress – Dakota Johnson. The movie is an adaptation of Jane Austin’s Persuasion which will See Dakota in the lead character as Anne Elliot.
Netflix announced that this will be the modern adaptation of the book and it will take a witty approach to most loved classic Novel. The movie will be produced by Andrew Lazar, Christina Weiss Lurie along with Elizabeth Cantillon, Michael Constable and David Fliegel coming on board as executive producers.
The story revolves around Anne Elliot who is an unorthodox woman with modern sensibilities living with her stuck-up family which is on the verge of Bankruptcy. Anne finds herself in the dilemma of choice between leaving her past behind or listening to her heart when Frederick Wentworth returns to her life.
Jan Austen’s persuasion was published in 1817 and has been considered as the most mature work by Austen. Like most of Austen’s work, the novel has already been adapted on the screen multiple time.
Dakota Johnson was recently starred in the drama “Our Friend”. With this movie in line, you will also be able to see Johnson next in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s “The Lost Daughter” and Stephanie Allynne and Tig Notaro’s “Am I Ok?”.
