Christian Bale Can’t React To Most Bizarre Interview Question
A new interview clip of Thor: Love and Thunder star Christian Bale goes viral as the British actor struggles to react to one of the most bizarre questions ever inquired. Marvel Studios is about to have a former Batman star join the ever-growing MCU. Following the finding of the original Thor trilogy, Chris Hemsworth is reprising the role of the Asgardian God in Thor: Love and Thunder, once again organized by Taika Waititi. After going up against various threats in his previous films, Thor will be facing off with another foe from Marvel lore, in the form of Gorr the God Butcher, who will be fiddled by Christian Bale.
Bale, who is no stranger to comic book film audiences, will be the first entertainer ever to bring Gorr to life, as he has never been featured in any Marvel medium. While this will be Bale’s first entry into the MCU, the 48-year-old actor is one of the stars to have portrayed Batman on the big screen. Bale starred in Christopher Nolan’s entire The Dark Knight trilogy between 2005 to 2012, exploring a grittier take on Batman. With Thor: Love and Thunder hitting theaters next week, the cast and creative team have been making the press rounds with several interviews being conducted.
With Bale being one of the participating actors in the Thor: Love and Thunder press tour, one interview took an odd turn, to say the least. In an interview with the What A Time To Be Alive podcast, the British actor was asked a truly bizarre question by the interviewer. A clip from their interview has now gone viral where the podcaster asks Bale, “Would you rather put a rat in your mouth face first or butt first?” without any context whatsoever. Bale was left speechless for several seconds before simply responding “Well…”. The video cuts off after that, leaving his full response a mystery for now.
It’s unclear why the outlet asked Bale this question, as it had nothing to do with Thor: Love and Thunder, which was the film being promoted. It looked like it threw Bale off as this isn’t exactly a standard interview question. In general, it’s not unheard of to have interviews where there are some funny and meme-able minutes between talents and interviewers. In this case, it’s a bizarre question that doesn’t connect with Thor: Love and Thunder.
While some fans will more than likely take Bale’s reaction as a fun moment, professionally, it’s somewhat of a wasted moment of an interview. During these press tours, particularly for big movies like Thor: Love and Thunder, they are meeting with dozens and dozens of outlets. Not every outlet ever gets the opportunity to chat with big stars like the ones from Marvel Studios movies. That’s why it can certainly be disheartening to see interviews like these where a huge actor like Bale gets asked an unusual question about how he would want to put a rat in his mouth when it has no ties to Thor: Love and Thunder at all. Then again, the funny response might just have been worth it.
