Box Office Historic Milestone: Spider-Man: Brand New Day Crosses $800M Domestic In Record Time
The Sony and Marvel blockbuster becomes the fastest film in box office history to hit the $800 million mark in North America.
Spider-Man’s theatrical dominance continues to smash records. Spider-Man: Brand New Day, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, has officially crossed the $800 million domestic box office threshold in just 19 days—making it the fastest film in cinematic history to accomplish the feat.
The web-slinging blockbuster dethroned the previous record holder, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which took 23 days to cross the same mark.
Sights Set on All-Time Domestic Champions
Having already zoomed past the $2 billion global milestone, Brand New Day currently stands at $803.9 million domestically, officially becoming only the fourth film in history to surpass $800 million on home soil (joining The Force Awakens, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: No Way Home). It has also already zipped past the lifetime domestic total of Avatar ($785.2 million).
Industry analysts expect the movie to eclipse Holland and Zendaya’s previous outing, Spider-Man: No Way Home ($814.8 million), within days, positioning Brand New Day to challenge Avengers: Endgame ($858.3 million) for the second-highest domestic gross of all time.
A Red-Hot Year for Its Leads
The monumental success of Brand New Day caps off an extraordinary year for Tom Holland, whose recent streak of theatrical hits has propelled him to the top of the highest-paid actors list. Meanwhile, co-star Zendaya continues her impressive reign, with momentum building ahead of her upcoming release in Dune: Part Three.
With minimal competition scheduled throughout the remainder of the month, market forecasters predict Spider-Man: Brand New Day could comfortably set its eyes on a historic $900 million+ North American run before wrapping up its theatrical engagement.
