Venom 2 Trailer Has A Lot More Carnage: Movie Origin & Powers Disclosed
A new Venom: Let There Be Carnage movie trailer is broadcasted. The sequel to 2018’s Venom sees the retrieval of Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, a journalist who becomes the announcer of an alien symbiote that turns him into the titular head-chomping anti-hero. The Venom movie post-credits event introduced Woody Harrelson’s Cletus Kasady, who, in the Marvel comics, is the alter-ego of Venom’s most famous adversary, Carnage. The scene set the stage for Venom and Carnage to go head to head in the series, and when Sony confirmed the Venom: Let There Be Carnage movie title last year, all but positive viewers would be treated to such a fight. At the same time as the title states, Sony also postponed the sequel due to the COVID-19 pandemic; it’s now set to hit theatres in late September.
Set images and videos from production on the Venom sequel revealed early, unofficial looks at Harrelson’s Cletus Kasady – encompassing a new hairstyle, remaking it up from the post-credits scene. However, the official Venom: Let There Be Carnage movie trailer uncovered what Carnage would look like in live-action. In addition to Carnage, the trailer also put attention on Eddie and Venom’s relationship, an active one that was a highlight of the first film. Now, as the release of the Venom sequel gets near, Sony has debuted another trailer for the follow-up film.
Sony broadcasted a new Venom: Let There Be Carnage movie trailer. In addition to Hardy and Harrelson, the sequel stars the return of Michelle Williams as Eddie’s ex-girlfriend Anne Weying and Reid Scott as Anne’s new partner Dan Lewis. Andy Serkis directed Venom: Let There Be Carnage after Ruben Fleischer, who piloted the first film, didn’t return; Venom co-writer Kelly Marcel signed on to pen the script, established on a story she formulated with Hardy. Although Venom: Let There Be Carnage is now meant to release on September 24, the trailer only says it will release completely in theatres this fall.
The trailer again shows off more of Eddie and Venom’s dynamic, with the pair still working out the twinges in their cohabitation as Eddie forces Venom to be less assertive while Venom wants Eddie to be more aggressive (and he wants to eat peoples’ heads). But Harrelson’s Carnage is just as much, if not more, of a priority in the new Venom 2 trailer. The footage shows extra of Carnage’s ancestry and his powers, and Venom’s reaction to him being a red symbiote also annoys a new facet of alien’s lore. The first movie comprised symbiotes that were black, silver, blue and yellow so a red symbiote hasn’t been seen yet in the Venom universe, and evaluating the deadly powers Carnage demonstrates – averting bullets and having various spiky weapons – they seem to be more strong. Even Cletus’s modification into Carnage is different to Venom, with Harrelson’s face wrenching to becoming the symbiote, rather than Venom, which encases Eddie in a defensive layer.
In addition to Carnage and Venom, the Let There Be Carnage trailer also comprises more footage of new Marvel comics villain Shriek (Naomie Harris), who has a sentimental relationship with Cletus in the comics. It’s ambiguous how Shriek fits into the story of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, though she flees with Cletus from Raven croft since there’s an opportunity for the two of them to flee the burning building, the film seems to be adapting their relationship. But beyond some footage of her powers, it stays to be seen what can be expected of Shriek in the movie. Instead, the Venom: Let There Be Carnage trailer puts more groundwork for an epic war between Venom and Carnage.
