“The Woman in the Window” is a psychological thriller American movie which Tracy Letts start. The film’s story is based on the book by the same name, “The Women in The Window,” written by author A. J. Finn. This book became a runaway success in 2018. This movie was initially slated for a 2019 release but was pulled from the schedule due to some reasons. First, and the pandemic affected, and then more delay when the producer was canceled for fostering a toxic workplace environment.

 This movie is centered on a lady who is agoraphobic and has not left her house for ten months, so she is confined to her home. Her name is Anna Fox as she can’t go outside, so she watches her never from her window. She is a child’s psychologist and amateur photographer. Anna is separated from her husband and her daughter.

She watched her new neighbor across the street, their tentative teenage son Ethan who stop by her and said hello, followed by his mother, Jane. Also, Anna can’t go outside. Still, it seems like progress to receive friendly visitors. She talks with Jane, and they become friends.

But one day, Anna sees Jane violently murdered by her husband, and Anna asked the police to investigate. Although the police couldn’t find any evidence that a crime was committed, the detective introduces her to Jane, who is okay and not dead. Ana suspects Ethan has been abused. Jane’s husband Alistair continuously warns Anna to mind her own business. Jane’s husband denied that Anna ever met Jane and told they Anna must be hallucinating because of her medication, and no one believes her. Everyone says that she went crazy. But after all these things, she still keeps her eye on her neighbor and thinks that something is wrong.

 Anna and her mental disturbance dominate this movie setup; her anxiety is amplified by the combination of alcohol and her medications, pushing her to the age of delusion. This movie is filled with drama, cheap scares, false alarms, loud storms, dumb cops, etc. Amy Adams has decided to this character that she very nearly holds the film together.

It is a 1 hour and 40-minute movie. This movie has lots of build-ups, many possibilities and is a puzzle with clichés. But an excellent mystery thriller for this short movie. It is very original, entertaining, and under a Hitchcock genre. Greate acting with clever camera work. It may seem a bit different from the book and may seem slow at times, but you will enjoy it. The review is not suitable for those who have already gone through the book. What exactly happened? Who killed Jane? What is Anna going to do to prove herself right?
