Rebecca Ferguson Joins Greta Lee In New Rom-Com ‘Honeymoon / Funeral’
Rebecca Ferguson is moving into a completely different genre following her work on Apple TV+’s Silo. The actress has finished filming the sci-fi series and is now set to star in her first romantic comedy, Honeymoon / Funeral, alongside Greta Lee.
Apple TV+’s Silo debuted in 2023 and is currently in its third season. Based on Hugh Howey’s trilogy of novels, the series follows engineer Juliette Nichols, played by Ferguson, as she attempts to uncover the truth behind a mysterious society forced to live inside enormous underground silos.
The series is expected to conclude with its fourth and final season, which completed filming in March. Following her time in the dystopian sci-fi world of Silo, Ferguson is now taking on a very different kind of story.
According to reports, Ferguson has joined Greta Lee in Honeymoon / Funeral, an upcoming romantic comedy that follows two women whose lives unexpectedly intersect during a flight from Los Angeles to London.
The two characters are traveling to London under dramatically different circumstances. One is flying to begin her honeymoon alone after her girlfriend leaves her at the altar, while the other is traveling to attend her mother’s funeral. After meeting aboard the plane, the pair unexpectedly become companions and spend the following week together.
Production on Honeymoon / Funeral is currently taking place in London. Nahnatchka Khan is directing the project, with Julia Bicknell writing the screenplay. Khan, Bicknell and Jennifer Carreras are also attached as producers.
MRC is producing the film, while FilmNation is expected to seek distribution for the project during the Toronto International Film Festival market this month.
Ferguson Takes on Her First Romantic Comedy
Honeymoon / Funeral represents a new direction for Ferguson, marking the first romantic comedy of her career. In recent years, the actress has been closely associated with major science-fiction and action projects, particularly through her role in Silo and the Dune franchise.
Her filmography also includes several high-profile productions, including the Mission: Impossible movies, The Greatest Showman, Doctor Sleep, A House of Dynamite, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man and The Magic Faraway Tree.
Ferguson will also return to cinemas later this year in Dune: Part Three, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters in December and is expected to conclude the current Dune storyline.
Greta Lee Continues Her Expanding Film Career
Greta Lee, meanwhile, has recently appeared as the voice of Lilypad in Pixar’s Toy Story 5. The animated sequel has become one of the biggest box-office releases of 2026, earning approximately $1.136 billion worldwide and ranking among the year’s top-grossing films.
Toy Story 5 is scheduled to arrive on Disney+ on September 23.
Lee’s other credits include Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, A House of Dynamite, Tron: Ares, Past Lives, Wayward Pines, Russian Doll and The Morning Show. She is also set to reprise her role as Lyla in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse next year.
Ferguson and Lee Reunite
The upcoming romantic comedy will bring Ferguson and Lee back together after their previous collaboration in A House of Dynamite. Their reunion in Honeymoon / Funeral gives both actresses an opportunity to explore a lighter genre.
No additional cast members have been announced so far, and the film does not yet have an official release date. More details about the project are expected as production and distribution plans progress.
