Fans And ‘Evil’ Team Appeal To Netflix For Season 6 Revival
Let’s start with a quick overview of “Evil” itself. Originally a CBS series, the show moved to Paramount+ from season 2 onwards. Although Netflix streamed the first season in 2020, it wasn’t until early 2024 that news broke of the series returning to Netflix in the US.
Only the first two seasons have been added to Netflix, and it remains uncertain if more will follow, despite speculation. Co-creator Robert King expressed uncertainty regarding future seasons.
Since its addition to Netflix (limited to the US), “Evil” has consistently ranked in the daily top 10s and specific US charts like those from Nielsen and Luminate.
Season 4 has been airing weekly on Paramount+ since early 2024, and while a fifth season was initially announced, the series will conclude with a shortened fifth season in 2024, following the Hollywood strikes of 2023.
Katja Herbers has been a vocal advocate for a sixth season, rallying fans to support the show. She corrected Collider’s characterization of the show’s cancellation, stating, “To set the record straight: nobody wanted the cancellation. Both the Kings and the actors want to do more. I had a family matter and was granted leave with 6 days left to film.”
She added, “A day after I left, the show was shut down due to the strike. We filmed the remaining 6 days after the strike ended, only to hear we were cancelled with 4 additional episodes to wrap up the story. The story will conclude with an opening for more, which is what we all hope!”
Since “Evil” returned to Netflix, Herbers and other cast members have actively posted about its performance, suggesting it justifies further seasons. Fans have taken to social media, urging Netflix, now a natural home for future seasons, to renew the show.
What are the chances of Netflix reviving the show? It’s not impossible; Netflix has a history of reviving popular shows like “Manifest” and “Lucifer,” but such occurrences are rare.
Additionally, fans are hoping that Netflix will revive another Robert and Michelle King series, “Your Honor,” a two-season Showtime drama featuring Bryan Cranston, which recently gained substantial viewership on Netflix in the US. Online, fans have been clamoring for a third season.
On a positive note, the Kings have more new series in development, although not at Netflix. They are working on the second season of their procedural drama “Elsbeth,” which premiered its first season earlier this year. Furthermore, they are collaborating with Jennifer Cacicio to bring the 2018 true crime podcast “Happy Face” to Paramount+ in 2025, starring Dennis Quaid.
